1) Hands-on Course on Coarse Grain Methods for Biomolecular Simulations
Dates: September 26 to October 4, 2011
Location: Institut Pasteur in Montevideo, Uruguay
The development of simplified or coarse grain (CG) representations of molecular systems added to the growth of computational power, allow nowadays the study of size and timescales that really match those biologically and technologically relevant.
The Institut Pasteur in Montevideo will offer in September-October 2011 a hands-on course on simulations of biological systems to provide a comprehensive and wide spectrum of CG techniques.
This event will count with internationally recognized speakers in the field. As it will be conducted in English, participants must have an adequate working knowledge of this language.
The Course will also aim to create an interdisciplinary collaboration amongst all the attendees by dedicating an entire session to oral presentations. Dissemination of the participants’ work, besides that of the main speakers, will help form networks of collaborative work and stimulating capacity building.

2) Yeast Systems Biology International Course
Dates: November 7th – 22nd, 2011
Location: Institut Pasteur in Montevideo, Uruguay
The global aim of this course is to equip students to address biological questions from a comprehensive and quantitative perspective.
The course consists of 5 modules:
* Introduction for theoreticians and experimentalists
* Single cell analysis of signal transduction systems
* Network biology and metabolism
* Synthetic genetic Arrays (SGAs) and epistasis mini-array profiles (EMAPs)
* Genetic interaction mapping of intracellular traffic
Theoretical and practical sessions will be organized in a way that the skills of one group of students will help the other group.
The course is designed to foster two types of students: those with biological background and those trained in quantitative sciences such as mathematics and physics.

SCHOLARSHIP The course will be limited to 20 students that will participate in the theoretical and practical activities. Selected participants from abroad will have accommodation and meals covered by the organization. Travel expenses are not covered.
Symposium “Yeast Systems Biology”
* Date: November 12th – 13th, 2011
* Place: Club Hotel Casapueblo, Punta Ballena (Maldonado), Uruguay
During the course the Symposium “Yeast Systems Biology” will take place at Club Hotel Casapueblo. This activity is part of the course and has no additional cost for selected students.

3) Course “Genetics of Laboratory Rodents”
Dates: December 5 to 14th, 2011
Location: Institut Pasteur in Montevideo, Uruguay
This course will offer a training opportunity to South American research scientists and veterinarians in charge of laboratory animal facilities, in the most prominent areas of mammalian genetics (mostly mouse).
This course offers an opportunity to receive an intensive training and get in touch with scientist of the region working in the same fields of interest.
